Your personal details

Your name and headline, a short summary, where you live, your languages and skills, where you may work, your nationality and your gender: what each is, and who sees it.

2 minute read

Personal details holds what describes you rather than a job or a course: your name and headline, a short summary, where you live, your languages and skills, where you may work, your nationality and, if you want, your gender. Each one is in your own words and marked Claimed wherever an employer meets it. Nobody is asked to confirm them.

Your name and headline

Your passport uses the name your identity document prints. You can ask for a different name to be shown, for example a shorter one you go by, and certo looks at the request before it appears. The headline is the one line under your name, such as "Product manager of nine years".

Summary

A few lines about you in your own words, at the top of your passport. You choose whether anyone can read it or only the companies you approve.

Where you live, languages and skills

Where you live and the languages you speak are on your public page. The level of each language, and of each skill, is shown only to the companies you approve. Your mother tongue is said as such, never as a level.

Where you may work, and your nationality

A right to work is shown only to the companies you approve, and anyone can see only that you stated one. Your nationality goes further: a company reads it only when you share it with that company, and it is off until you do. Adding a nationality offers the right to work it brings, so you do not have to type it twice.

Your gender

If you add it, your gender is for you alone. No page shows it, and no company can read it.

Who sees each section

Every section on the page carries a small slate pill that says who sees it: Anyone, Approved companies, Only if you share it or Only you. Where part of a section waits for a company you approve, the pill says which part, for example "levels on approval".
