Passports paid for by someone else

An employer, a university or your own company can pay for your passport. What each covers, who can read it, and what happens when the year ends.

You do not always pay for your passport yourself. Account, under Subscription, says who pays for yours and until when.

An employer's sponsored invitation

An employer can invite you and pay for your identity check and the confirmation of your work and education. Your passport is then free for a year from the day you accept.

In return, the employer reads what its invitation asked for, records you add later included. You cannot withdraw that access for the first 12 months; after that you can, like any other. Erasing your account ends it at any time.

Other employers you approve read your passport as they would any other: for a verification of their own. They cost you nothing.

You see all of this before you accept, and you can decline. The whole story, step by step, is in your invitation to certo.

A university

A university can pay for its graduates' passports: your identity check and the confirmation of your education. The university pays for you, not for a reading: it gets no access to your passport. While that year runs, employers you approve read your passport free.

Your own company's verification

If you are an owner or an admin of a company on certo, you can use one of its verifications for your own passport. The offer to verify your passport with a company verification shows on the Overview while the identity check is your next step, and under Subscription. Choose Use a verification, then confirm.

It pays for your identity check and a year of verification. Your company does not get access to your passport: it stays yours, and you decide who reads it.

Activated by certo

Sometimes certo activates a passport itself. Subscription then says your full passport is active until a date, activated by certo. It works like your own year: employers you approve read free, and you can download your passport as a CV.

When the paid year ends

Whoever paid, your passport stays live and verified, and everything confirmed stays confirmed. To have new records checked after that, and to let employers read it free, take your own passport for €9.90 a year. Read your passport year.

The Download as CV (PDF) button comes with a year you pay for yourself, or one certo activated. A year paid by an employer or a university does not include it.

The old one-time fee

Paid the old one-time fee? You keep what you bought: verification is included for good. The yearly passport adds free reading for every employer you approve, and the CV download. The one-time fee is no longer on sale.

Whoever pays, the decisions stay yours. Paying never publishes anything, and never opens anything you did not approve.
