Who can see your passport, and sharing it
Private, unlisted or public; what a stranger sees and what stays sealed; and how to share your page as a post or a short video.
3 minute read
Your passport starts private. You choose who can find it, and separately, which employers may read the full record.
Private, unlisted or public
On the Overview, Who can see your passport has three settings:
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Private | No public address. Only companies you approved can open it |
| Unlisted | Anyone with the exact address can read the public parts. Not indexed by search engines |
| Public | Anyone can read the public parts. Contact details and full detail stay with employers you approved |
Your passport cannot be published before the identity check has passed: a page with no checked name would be a page about nobody.
What a stranger sees
On your public page, anyone sees:
- your name, headline and where you live
- your photo, once it matches your identity check
- that your identity was checked: the document type, its country and the date
- your languages, without their levels
- every record you set to Anyone with your page, as you wrote it
What they never see:
- whether a line was confirmed, and by whom. The answers are sealed: they open only for employers you approve
- your contact details, your date of birth and your nationality
- the details of your right to work, and a career break's reason
- your files, and a certification's number and dates
- anything you set to Only companies I approve
- your gender, which only you ever see
Paying never changes any of this. Your public page is the same whether your passport year runs or not.
Sharing your page
Your page has to be unlisted or public to share it. On Share & Access:
- Copy link copies your page's address.
- Share on LinkedIn, Share on X, Share on Facebook or Share on WhatsApp opens a post written from your page. Change it as you like. X and WhatsApp open with your text already in the post; for LinkedIn and Facebook, choose Copy text and paste it in. The network opens in a new tab with the link to your page.
A video of your passport
Under A video of your passport, pick a shape, vertical or square, and a design. The video is made on your own device from what your page shows. Nothing is uploaded, and you download it as an MP4.
Before you make one, you need your photo on your page and a headline. Some designs also need a confirmed job or degree on your public page, or a line from the last five years.
A video shows which lines are confirmed. Your page shows that only to companies you approve, so posting the video makes it public.
Download as a CV
On the Overview, Download as CV (PDF) makes a printable CV from your passport: every line says who confirmed it, and anything nobody confirmed says claimed. Your contact details and your nationality are left out unless you tick them for that copy. The download is included with your own passport year.
Who can read the rest
Employers read more than your public page only with your approval. Read when an employer asks to read your passport.
