What each answer means

Confirmed, confirmed in part, declined, no matching record, not the right person, or no reply. What you see, and what an employer you approve sees.

Every request ends in an answer, and silence counts as one. Open the record on Work & education to see what came back: a status line, what was asked, and a timeline of the request.

A partial answer is normal. If HR confirms your dates but not your job title, the dates show as confirmed and the title stays Claimed, inside the same line. It is never rounded up, and never rounded down.

Not the right person

The person you wrote to can answer I am not the right person, and may name a colleague. certo writes nothing more to them. If they named someone, certo asks that person instead. If nobody else is asked, the request runs out like an unanswered one.

When certo checks the answer first

An answer from a personal mailbox, or from an address certo cannot tie to the company, shows Answered · certo is checking the answer. Nothing goes on your passport until a person at certo has looked.

  • If certo counts it, it reads like any other answer.
  • If not, you see certo did not count the answer and a note from certo. Ask another address at the company.

If somebody replies by e-mail instead of on the answer page, you see A reply came in: a person at certo reads it before anything moves.

After a no

Declined, No matching record and No reply all leave the line Claimed, and say what happened. Choose Ask another address to open a new request to someone else. For no matching record, an employee number often helps.

Who sees the answers

The answers are sealed on your public page. A stranger sees your public lines, never whether they were confirmed or by whom. An employer you approve sees the answer on each line it may read.

Certificates

When an organisation that has an agreement with certo confirms a record, certo can sign a certificate over exactly the confirmed facts. Each certificate stands on its own, and anyone can check it without asking certo. You find yours on the record.
