What certo collects, what it never keeps, how you decide who reads what, and a log of every look. Ours included.
- Anyone with the link sees your public page, every check sealed.
- An employer asking for identity verification reads your identity check, nothing more.
- An employer asking for identity and employment verification also reads who confirmed each job.
- You see all of it, and decide what each one reads.
Only what a verified passport needs.
Each piece has one job. If certo does not need it to check a fact or keep your account safe, it does not ask for it.
- Account
- Your e-mail address and mobile number, each confirmed with a code. There is no password.
- What you add
- Jobs, education, certifications, roles, languages, right to work, a photo and contact details. Your nationality only if you add it; your gender, if you add it, only you see.
- Identity check
- The result, your name as printed, the document's type, country and expiry date, and your date of birth, sealed.
- Confirmations
- Who confirmed which facts, and when. The address certo wrote to is deleted on a schedule once it is not needed.
- Security
- The network address and browser of each sign-in, to stop fake accounts. Raw addresses are deleted after 30 days.
Your ID is checked, not kept.
Your identity check runs at a specialist identity provider. certo receives the answer, not your document.
Photos of your document or your face. They stay with the identity provider. When a person at certo reviews a check, they view it there, and that look is logged.
Your document number. Only a one-way fingerprint, so one document cannot open two passports.
Your CV. Read once to suggest your records, then gone: not the file, not its text.
Your date of birth is sealed. Encrypted with a key kept outside our database. An employer you approve sees only the answer, unless you share the date.
Say yes, say less, or say no.
An employer can only ask. You see who is asking and what they want to read, and you answer on your own terms.
- Your page
- Public, link only or private. The public page shows what you claim, never the verdicts, your contact details or dates.
- Each request
- Approve it, approve only some parts, or decline. An ask you leave unanswered closes after 30 days.
- Any time
- Narrow or withdraw an approval. When an employer pays for your verification, you can withdraw after 12 months.

If a read is not logged, it cannot happen.
The log is written in the same step as the read; if it cannot be written, nothing is shown. Employers, HR and certo's own staff alike: a staff look is always tied to a case, and it shows here as certo, with the reason.
