Verifications and what they cost
One verification sponsors a candidate or opens a passport. Buy a pack when you need it; verifications never expire, and a verification comes back when nothing was delivered.

Employers pay on certo with verifications. There is no subscription and no contract: you buy a pack when you need one, and the whole team spends from one balance.
The packs

The larger the pack, the less each verification costs, down to €3.96 a verification in the pack of 250. Your console shows the price per verification beside each pack, and so does the page for employers. Verifications never expire.
Buying verifications
On Candidates, press Add verifications. The dialog shows your balance and the packs. Pick a pack and pay by card at checkout. Back on Candidates you see "Payment received. They are on the account." The price you pay, with any VAT, is shown at checkout before you pay.
You can also buy from the ask dialog on a passport when you have none left, and come straight back to the ask.
What a verification pays for
One verification does one of two things:
- Sponsors one candidate. An invitation pays for their identity check and the confirmation of their work and education, and you read what you asked for once they accept. See Inviting candidates to verify.
- Opens one passport. An ask to read an existing passport, once the candidate approves it. See Asking to read a passport.
When a verification is spent, and when it comes back

A verification never comes back twice. Every movement shows under Verification history on Candidates, newest first, with its date: Bought, Candidate invited, Access opened, Returned, and Adjusted by certo for a change certo made, such as verifications from a separate agreement.
Three things a verification never buys
- A verdict. Answers come back as they are, partial or silent included.
- A way round the candidate. They decide what you read.
- Their contact details. A separate permission, off by default.
Running out
Without verifications you cannot send an invitation or a paid ask; the dialog says how many you need. Candidates your ATS picks up while you have none wait, and are invited as soon as you top up.
